Everything. Historic. Beautiful. Welcoming. In addition to usual expectations about cleanliness, location and hospitality (all were great) - to get highest marks from me, it’s all about the bed and the shower. Both were off the charts. Literally the most comfortable bedding I have experienced. The shower was big and lovely. And surprisingly, the fact that there are no TVs in the room was a non issue. Fast Wi-fi is provided. It’s located right on the main historic street. Great for walking, browsing and eating. Once you are there… no car needed. There’s also a beautiful restaurant and bar in the hotel. This fully renovated, but still authentically historic hotel was a real treat for a romantic weekend getaway.

I feel like I've stumbled upon one of the best hotels I've ever experienced. From beginning to end, it was exceptional. The front desk employee was friendly, clear and professional. The decor/attention to detail and the incredible amount of spaces for guests to sit and relax, the dinner at Lola (downstairs) was absolutely delicious, incredible service. The balcony veranda was delightful at sunset when the temperature cooled. The waterfall shower in our room warrants its own review. Free coffee and pastries in the morning. The whole package, I would recommend this hotel to everyone, can't wait to stay again.

Our two-night stay at the National Exchange was divine! It was like staying at a friend's house! The rooms were so beautifully decorated and comfortable. We had a room with a clawfoot tub, and it was so relaxing after a day of hiking and exploring the area! In the morning, they provided a fresh and light breakfast of yogurt and strawberries, hard-boiled eggs, and delicious coffee in their grand lounge on the second floor; so stunning! At night the hotel was quiet and relaxing. There is a great restaurant downstairs, but we ate out both nights; when we return, we will eat at the restaurant!

Great location - food was very Good & so we're the cocktails. The room was clean & pretty - very comfortable. The king bed & linens were amazing!! Soon comfortable! We took our dogs w us as they are dog friendly We had a great room, large, w a wonderful, big, unique bathroom. We had a whole lrg. Private patio/courtyard area w the room & a private entrance - it was really great. Totally relaxing & fun Staff interactions were terrific. Definately go there again & highly recommend, esp if you have pets w you!

Location/parking in the middle of all the fun things to do in Nevada City. A beautiful renovation of an historic Gold Rush hotel. Super nice, large staff, surprising in a relatively rural place, but indicative of the draw of the area. The staff people we met could provide the type of sophisticated service one might find in a European grand hotel. Great food and drink at the bar. Extreme comfort and beauty of the rooms. Shoot I could go on and on.
